Radioactive leak at Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport in Lucknow triggers panic
An airport spokesman reported that a security alarm went off in the cargo area around 10 a.m.

LUCKNOW: A radioactive leak took place in Chaudhary Charan Singh (Amausi) Airport in Lucknow, triggering panic on Saturday afternoon. Teams of National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), together with the Fire department and police arrived at the site. A radius of 1.5 kilometers around the site was evacuated as a precaution.
Fire Chief, Lucknow, Mangesh Kumartold TOI that initial reports suggested that a flight from Lucknow to Guwahati was being prepared for departure.
“During a routine scan at Terminal 3, the scanner emitted a warning sound. The alarm was triggered by a wooden box containing an electronic fluorine liquid,” Kumar said.
When the workers opened the box, it caused panic at the airport and people ran in all directions. Authorities immediately evacuated the area.
An airport spokesman reported that a security alarm went off in the cargo area around 10 a.m.
“Security personnel immediately reached the spot to sort out the situation and informed SDRF and NDRF teams. All teams have reached the spot. None of the personnel lost consciousness in this incident, nor has anyone reported any health issues,” he said.
