Hubballi: Bahnhofstrasse in Hubballi has been in need of urgent attention for some time. The entrance to the station is blocked by the sight of Drainage water flowing, creating an inhospitable atmosphere for passengers arriving in the city. The Rajakaluve at the entrance has been overflowing into the street for some time now.
The sewage on the street is an inconvenience for pedestrians and disrupts the operations of businesses in the area. The authorities neglect the maintenance of Rajakaluve and the cleanliness the area surrounding the station. Recent rainfall has made the situation even worse.
According to sources, the area around the railway station falls under HDMC Zone No. 6 in the heart of the city. The railway station, named after Shree Siddharoodha Swamiji, has the longest platform in the world and is used by thousands of passengers every day. People travelling from Hubballi to different states and districts have expressed their dissatisfaction over the authorities’ failure to keep the entrance clean. Sewage flows up to Harsh Complex, creating difficulties for pedestrians while shopkeepers and travellers are afraid to navigate the area.
Rahul Murgod, a motorist from Hubballi, said, “Sewage has been flowing outside the main entrance of the railway station for the past one month. The railway company and officials are not bothering to clean the road. This problem needs to be solved soon.”
Expressing his concerns, Santosh Hanjagi, a passenger, said, “Passengers walk near the station entrance with their noses held. Hubballi railway station has a good reputation. The entrance should be designed in such a way that it attracts the passengers. Officials should work on keeping the surroundings of the station clean,” he demanded.

Girish Talawar, deputy district commissioner of HDMC zone no. 6, said, “Rajakaluve work is going on at the main entrance of the railway station. Sewage is flowing and it will be repaired as soon as possible. The drain is full and water is coming from Keshwapur and other areas.”
