Raising Cane’s is set to open a new, unique restaurant in Boston on Wednesday, although it was not designed by Post Malone.

The new unit in Boston will be made entirely of gold – or at least in the color gold – to celebrate the brand’s 28th anniversary.

In this unit, the interior will not be just a little bit of gold. It will be all gold, including the walls, seating, counters and floors. Oh, and the disco balls on the ceiling.

As the chain’s 828th restaurant, with its grand opening on August 28 (8/28), Raising Cane’s has pledged to donate $28 million to local communities in the coming year. Guests can also win a golden ticket to a tour of Raising Cane’s first restaurant in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as well as real gold bars, coins and nuggets (from one to 10 ounces), necklaces, shoes and other gifts – not least a golden plush puppy (Cane, the brand’s yellow Labrador mascot).

In addition to founder Todd Graves, the golden restaurant’s opening party on Wednesday will also feature a number of colorful celebrities who have gold in common, including “Big Papi” Jrue Holiday, a Celtics champion who has won a gold trophy or two, and JVKE, the singer-songwriter known for the hit single “Golden Hour.”

This unit in Boston is one of about 100 added this year.

Chicken finger specialty company Raising Cane’s is one of the fastest-growing chains in the U.S. The company now operates in 40 states and plans to open 100 restaurants this year. According to sister brand Technomic, the chain closed 2023 with 727 stores and sales of over $3.8 billion, up over 20% from the previous year. Raising Cane’s has an average volume of $5.7 million, among the highest among limited-service concepts.

Graves likes to tell the story that he developed the business plan for the concept while still in school and the project received the lowest grade in the class.

But after working for several years at an oil refinery and on a fishing boat to earn money, he opened the first restaurant outside of Louisiana State University and named the restaurant after his yellow Labrador, Cane.

Graves has now set a goal of reaching 1,600 units and sales of $10 billion by 2030.
