Rap star Rich Homie Quan dies at 33

Rapper Rich Homie Quan has died.

Quan, born Dequantes Lamar, was 33.

The Atlanta-born rapper was known for hits such as 2015’s “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” and 2013’s “Type of Way.”

Rolling Stone and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution report that the Fulton County coroner and a member of Quan’s family confirmed his death Thursday, but did not provide a cause of death.

TMZ reports that Quan’s girlfriend found him unconscious in his Atlanta home and called 911.

Quan, a member of the Rich Gang, released his first studio album, “Rich as in Spirit,” in 2018.

His other hits include “Walk Thru” (2014) with rapper Problem, “Get TF Out My Face” (2014) with Young Thug and “Ride Out” (2015) with Kid Ink, Tyga, Wale and YG, from the “Furious 7” soundtrack.

In 2014, Quan was nominated for Best New Artist at the BET Awards and Rookie of the Year at the BET Hip Hop Awards.

Before his death, Quan said in a video interview shared with Alanah Story on Thursday that he expected to release new music before his 34th birthday on Oct. 4.

Rapper 2 Chainz remembered Quan on Instagram on Thursday.

“Damn little brother,” he said, sharing photos of his fellow Georgia artist. “We were just talking about doing a video. Praying especially for you and your family and praying for anyone who is struggling with anything.”
