RATING: The Best Grocery Store Ice Cream Bars, Ranked

RATING: The Best Grocery Store Ice Cream Bars, Ranked

  • I compared ice cream bars from Wegmans, Whole Foods, and Costco to find the tastiest ones.
  • The Wegmans ice cream bars were OK, but I wasn’t particularly impressed.
  • My wife and I loved the chocolate-nut coating on Kirkland Signature ice cream bars.

Classic chocolate-covered ice cream bars are the perfect dessert when you’re craving a frozen treat but don’t feel like dealing with cones, scoops or dessert toppings.

If you can’t count on the ice cream truck driving by, many major supermarket chains also offer private label brands. This is no surprise, as the ice cream industry is booming—according to market research firm Grand View Research, the industry was valued at over $113 billion in 2023 and is expected to continue growing.

However, it can be difficult to figure out which ice cream bars are worth it. To find out, I bought ice cream bars from Wegmans, Whole Foods, and Costco and tried them with my family of four.

Here’s how they performed, from worst to best.
