On day one, Ashwin came on when India were 144/6 in their first innings. The 38-year-old smashed 113 runs off 133 balls, including 11 fours and two sixes, to take India to 376 on day 2. Meanwhile, Jadeja scored 86 runs off 124 deliveries, including 10 fours and two sixes.

After the stumps on the first day, Ashwin even thanked Jadeja for his help in batting. On the second day after India’s first innings, Jasprit Bumrah bowled Bangladesh out for 149 with four wickets. Then, in the second innings, India reached 81/3 at the stumps, with Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant starting batting again on the third day.

What did Ravindra Jadeja say?

After the stumps on the second day, Jadeja responded to Ashwin’s comment and said, “First of all, Ashwin doesn’t need any advice (laughs). I just spoke to Ash that we will not make any wrong decisions or mistakes because the wicket was so good and we both batted very well. I said we will try to go for easy singles, I will try not to run you too much and that was the conversation between us. Well played by Ashwin, he played a brilliant knock on his home ground.”

Talking about the pitch, Jadeja said: “It’s quite good for batting, but there’s still something in the wicket for the fast bowlers. One or two balls would slip, another would swing, it’s not so easy for the batters. If the fast bowlers bend their backs, they can take something out of the wicket.”

During India’s second innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal (10) fell to Nahid Rana and Rohit Sharma was dismissed for five runs off seven balls, losing his wicket to Taskin Ahmed. Meanwhile, Mehidy Hasan dismissed Virat Kohli (17).
