Red Lobster closes another 23 restaurants

Red Lobster closes more locations.

The seafood restaurant chain, which filed for bankruptcy in May, announced in a bankruptcy filing on Thursday that it planned to terminate 23 of its leases by Saturday.

Red Lobster said in the statement that the company continues to review and identify leases that are likely to continue to result in losses. The new closures are in addition to those previously announced.

The 23 locations that will be closed are located in:

  4. 4925 N. Academy Blvd., Colorado Springs, Colorado
  5. 326 Miracle Strip Parkway SW, Fort Walton Beach, Florida
  6. 5110 N. Ninth Ave., Pensacola, Florida
  7. 8909 US Highway 19. Port Richey, Florida
  8. 6550 Tara Blvd., Jonesboro, Georgia
  9. 4353 Franklin St., Michigan City, Indiana
  10. 1604 N. State Road, Route 50, Bourbonnais, Illinois
  11. 902 Commons Drive, Geneva, Illinois
  12. 4625 N. Sterling Ave., Peoria, Illinois

Red Lobster operates over 530 restaurants, primarily in the United States and Canada, and employs nearly 36,000 people.

According to CNN, Red Lobster is in the process of selling itself to Fortress Credit Corp., a lender with experience in restaurant management that also owns Krystal, Logan’s Roadhouse and J. Alexander’s.
