The Boston Red Sox have a roster full of talent.

Boston is in a good position and is currently in the thick of the race for a wild card spot in the American League. The Red Sox are clearly close to being one of the top contenders in the American League, and adding another star to the team this winter will help them move to the top.

One of the best pitchers available is two-time Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell. Boston knows him and was linked to him as a free agent throughout last year’s offseason. He will be available again and Zachary Rymer of Bleacher Report has the Red Sox listed as the sixth-best landing spot for him.

“The Red Sox’s signing of Snell last winter made sense on paper, but they didn’t want to commit to someone who was tied to the compensation of a draft pick,” Rymer said. “That won’t be the case with Snell this time, and Boston needs a No. 1 pick, so it’s a shame they turned to frugality.”

Boston needs a top starter and Snell will be back and has shown again this season that he is one of the best pitchers in baseball. The Red Sox can afford a deal and need someone like Snell. Plus, Boston’s rotation is heavy on right-handers, so Snell could fix that problem as well.

Boston is likely to be one of Snell’s favorites if free agency becomes an option this winter.
