One of Greenville’s most famous restaurants begins construction on a second location, creating another home for its fresh-ingredient menu on Greenville’s east side.

With Restaurant Week in mind, Kitchen Sync announced plans to begin construction on a location at 2420 Hudson Road in the Brushy Creek Crossing shopping center, formerly home to Dragon Den. The announcement comes eight years after the original location opened on Laurens Road.

“People have been asking us to open a second location closer to Greer for a long time, and when this space became available, there was no doubt it was perfect for us,” owner Kevin Feeny said in a press release.

Feeny said the location at the intersection of Hudson Road and Old Spartanburg Road is surrounded by many surrounding neighborhoods, but there aren’t many casual neighborhood restaurants with quality food and drinks, similar to the situation on Laurens Road when Kitchen Sync opened in June 2016. The Laurens Road corridor has changed since then, as the area now called Midtown has attracted ambitious restaurateurs in recent years.

With on-site parking and what Fenny calls a “soulful neighborhood atmosphere,” Kitchen Sync offers a casual, downtown-quality dining experience without the stress, the press release states. Customers of Kitchen Sync’s second restaurant can expect the same menu offerings and a “unique, mixed-value business model aimed at a higher purpose.”

“By investing in our employees and the community we serve, everyone succeeds,” Feeny said in the press release. “The SYNC in our name truly represents our business model and the intertwining of our values of compassion, community and responsibility with our soulful neighborhood restaurants.”

Local companies LMG Architects and Cely Construction were commissioned to plan and build the new restaurant.

Once completed, the 320 square meter restaurant will accommodate about 100 guests inside and 25 to 30 outside. Kitchen Sync is not only building an outdoor terrace, but is also expanding the indoor area by 46 square meters. A bar will accommodate about 15 guests.

Anyone interested in trying the Kitchen Sync experience at the 1609 Laurens Road location has a unique opportunity during Restaurant Week, which runs through August 24. Restaurant Week offerings can be found on the Kitchen Sync website at kitchensyncgreenville.com. Full menus and additional restaurant information are available on the Kitchen Sync website.

Kitchen Sync offers farm-fresh, homemade food served with a focus on hospitality, the press release states. The company cultivates a climate and culture where the values of community responsibility, environmental integrity and compassion are firmly embedded in the company’s DNA, the press release states. Feeny has worked to create a culture that respects and promotes individuality and authenticity and supports local social enterprises such as Soteria CDC and Jasmine Kitchen. Kitchen Sync founded and funds the KISS Foundation (Kitchen Sync Stewardship), which invests in and participates in select community responsibility initiatives.

Kitchen Sync has been recognized as the best independent Green Certified Restaurant in the country since 2016.
