Residents in parts of Dauphin County are asked to limit water use

Veolia is urging water customers in southern Dauphin County to limit their water usage as much as possible, effective immediately.

The company said Tuesday that recent heavy rains had stirred up sediment that had clogged the Sixth Street water treatment plant. The temporary water restriction would conserve stored water supplies.

Customers are asked to immediately stop non-essential water use to conserve supplies while Veolia restarts the power plant.

Customers should refrain from watering lawns, filling pools, washing cars, or performing other non-essential tasks until further notice so we can preserve remaining supplies of treated water for drinking, sanitation, and healthcare. Thank you for your cooperation.

These customers include residents of Linglestown, Paxtonia, Colonial Park, Penbrook Borough and northern Swatara Township.

This is one of several water pipe bursts that have been reported in the news since the weekend.

Veolia reported a water main burst in Swatara Township around 7 a.m. on Tuesday. About 1,200 residents were notified of the emergency repair.

Meanwhile, from August 9 to Tuesday morning, more than 40,000 residents in Cumberland and North York counties were affected by another water main burst.
