Residents of Whispering Pines Mobile Home Park complain about a month-long boil water advisory

CHENANGO (WBNG) – Residents of Whispering Pines Mobile Home Park in the town of Chenango said their homes have not had access to clean water for over a month.

12 News went door to door and spoke to residents of the community. They explained that they had to buy bottled drinking water because they did not feel safe drinking it. They have been under a boil water advisory for over a month and have no idea when it will be lifted. In some households, the water pressure is so low that they can barely shower or wash dishes.

Local resident Linda Jumper told 12 News she doesn’t feel safe using her tap water for cooking or washing dishes.

“The water pressure is down to a trickle,” said Jumper. “I’m even afraid to wash the dishes in this water.”

12 News has reached out to the Broome County Health Department for comment on the matter but has not received a response.

The City of Chenango Water Department told 12 News that the system used to supply water to Whispering Pines is not owned by the city and that a separate system is used for the mobile home park.

Many residents are still wondering when this problem will be resolved and when they will be able to use their water again.
