Restaurant competitor Chick-fil-A could come to the Augusta area

A nationwide casual dining chain serving chicken that customers say is as delicious — or more delicious — than Chick-fil-A is coming to the Augusta area.

Super Chix Chicken & Custard recently signed a franchise agreement for eight new restaurants in the Atlanta and Augusta areas, the company announced.

Franchisees Divyesh and Jig Patel have not yet announced the locations of the planned restaurants.

The first two Super Chix locations opened in the Dallas area in 2014. Nationwide expansion kicked into high gear in 2018 after former Five Guys franchisee Darryl Neider took over as CEO of Super Chix.

Neider bought the concept from Yum! Brands, the fast-food giant that is also responsible for KFC and Taco Bell.

Restaurant industry observers called Super Chix a “Chick-fil-A copy,” according to the Dallas Observer, and a “Chick-fil-A killer,” according to Business Insider.

Super Chix touts itself as “the last real chicken sandwich” and describes itself as a company with an obsessive fixation on producing high-quality food.

Super Chix offers custom-made chicken sandwiches, hand-cut salty-sweet fries sprinkled with rosemary, and several flavors of fresh frozen custard.
