At least once a year, Erie County Health Department officials inspect all restaurants and stores that sell unpackaged food. Here is a list of violations recorded from Aug. 15 through Thursday.
4 critical violations
Universal Groceries, 2256 Broad St. (All repeat violations: cheese dated 7/10 and 8/5 discarded, plus one with no date but showing signs of aging; fruit flies still present, dead house flies in refrigerator; smoked chicken thighs unlabeled; violation notice sent to owner but no response or attention for violations originally noted on August 7) Also seven non-critical violations.
