Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s daughter told an incredible story more than a decade ago, but it went viral for the first time over the weekend due to an unlikely confluence of two factors: Kennedy ending his presidential campaign and his daughter reportedly choosing to start a relationship with the most divorced man in Hollywood.

Around 1994, Kennedy learned that a dead whale had washed up on a beach in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts. With a chainsaw and six-year-old Kick in tow, he rushed to the scene. He cut off the whale’s head, tied it to the roof of his minivan with bungee cords, and made the five-hour drive back to the family’s home in New York.

“Every time we accelerated on the highway, whale juice would run against the windows, it was the most disgusting thing in the world,” remembers Kick. “We all had plastic bags over our heads in which we had cut holes for our mouths, and people on the highway would give us the middle finger, but that was just normal everyday life for us.”

Kick, named after her great-aunt Kathleen “Kick” Kennedy Cavendish, made headlines on Saturday after a source told Page Six she was recently spotted hanging out with Ben Affleck in Los Angeles. “The nature of their relationship remains unclear,” the tabloid noted.

The report sparked wild speculation online, especially because it was confirmed earlier this week that Affleck, 52, and his second wife, Jennifer Lopez, had split earlier this year. (Lopez filed for divorce on Tuesday, citing irreconcilable differences.)

Kick, 36, is an actress who has appeared in gossip Girl, The newsroom, And Curb your enthusiasm, alongside stepmother Cheryl Hines. Kennedy has Kick and a son, Robert III, with Emily Black, his first wife.

Kennedy and Black married in 1982, but separated a decade later because of an affair Kennedy had with his second wife, Mary Richardson. Richardson, whom Kennedy divorced in 2010, committed suicide in May 2012, seven months before City and country profiled kick.

On Friday – a day before the Page Six report – Kick’s father suspended his independent presidential campaign and announced his support for the Republican candidate, former President Donald Trump.

“In my heart of hearts, I no longer believe that I have a realistic chance of winning the election in the face of this relentless, systematic censorship and media control,” Kennedy said in a long farewell speech to his supporters.

This “media scrutiny” extended to several embarrassing news cycles about his various encounters with all sorts of creatures large and small over the years. First came a New York Times Report about how doctors discovered in 2010 that a parasitic worm had invaded his brain and then died. Kennedy quickly confirmed that this was true.

Then, in July, Vanity Fair reported that Kennedy had texted a photo of himself to a friend the year before “which included what he suggested to the friend were the barbecued remains of a dog.” Kennedy denied this, saying the dead animal he was photographed with was a goat.

But the blows did not stop, and less than a month had passed when Kennedy admitted on social media – in an attempt to avoid an impending New Yorkers story – that he was the guy who dumped a dead bear cub in Central Park in an infamous incident over a decade ago.

“We thought the finder would be amusing,” Kennedy said in the video.

And he hasn’t even opened his 300 cubic meter freezer, which is always full of meat from roadkill.
