Robbery at Liberty gas station in Northeast Philadelphia: Police seek suspect

PHILADELPHIA, August 10 – The Philadelphia Police Department’s Northwest Detective Division is currently investigating a commercial robbery that occurred early Saturday morning at a gas station in the city’s northeast area.

At approximately 2:00 a.m., a suspect entered the Liberty gas station at 5302 Rising Sun Avenue and assaulted an employee before stealing $8,500 in cash. The incident began when the employee, who was in the office area, left the store to repair a slot machine inside the store. As he attempted to return to his secured office, the suspect, who had been playing on another slot machine, followed him into the office and assaulted him.

The suspect is described as a black male wearing a white t-shirt, black jeans, black and white sneakers and a green baseball cap. The individual immediately fled the scene after taking the money.

Police are asking anyone with information about the suspect or the incident to come forward. The investigation is ongoing as detectives work to identify and locate the perpetrator.

  • Wall Township man charged with murder of girlfriend in parking lot attack

    FREEHOLD, NJ — A Wall Township man has been indicted by a Monmouth County grand jury in the fatal machete attack on his girlfriend in May, the Monmouth County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.

    Alex J. Williams, 25, is charged with one count of first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, one count of third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and one count of fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

    The charges stem from an incident on May 23, when Wall Township police were called to the parking lot of the Glen Oaks Apartment Complex at approximately 9:22 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found a woman with numerous serious injuries.

    An investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and the Wall Township Police Department determined that Williams attacked the victim with a machete, inflicting the fatal injuries.

    Williams was arrested at the scene and taken to the Monmouth County Correctional Facility, where he remains in custody. A judge granted the state’s request to keep him in custody pending his trial.

  • Woodbridge woman arrested for abandoning children in Veterans Park

    WOODBRIDGE, Virginia. — A Woodbridge woman was arrested Thursday evening, August 15, 2024, after leaving her two young children unattended at Veterans Park, 14300 Veterans Drive. The incident occurred around 8:42 p.m. when the woman asked an unidentified man in the park’s skate area to watch her 7- and 8-year-old boys.

    The man contacted police after the woman did not return to the park for an extended period of time. Officers arrived at the scene and began investigating the situation. While the investigation was ongoing, the woman, identified as Autumn Maree Foss Hale, 24, returned to the park and was arrested by police without incident.

    The children were unharmed and were placed in the care of known persons. After the investigation, Hale was arrested and charged with two counts of betrayal of minors.

    Hale was released on bail and her court date is pending. The investigation is ongoing.
