With the launch of the Epic Games Store on Android, it was announced that Rocket League Sideswipe would be removed from the Play Store worldwide and would be available exclusively via sideloading.

Rocket League Sideswipe was released on the Android and iOS app stores in late 2021. While the game isn’t a full port of Rocket League from PC and console, it brought the title’s competitive fun to mobile for the first time. The game has since gone through several seasons of content and updates and is entering Season 17 soon.

However, if you are using Android, you will have to change the way you play.

In a blog post, Epic Games announced that Rocket League Sideswipe is leaving the Play Store on August 23. This will happen worldwide, and it’s because the game is being moved to the newly opened Epic Games Store. This new store will have to be sideloaded and will be the only way to access Rocket League Sideswipe going forward. Epic also moved Rocket League from Steam exclusively to its store on PC some time ago when the game became free-to-play. But unlike the Steam move, Epic Games requires you to delete Rocket League Sideswipe if it was downloaded through the Play Store and install it through the Epic Games Store instead.

⁠Starting August 23, if you downloaded Sideswipe from the Google Play Store, you will need to delete it from your device and re-download it from the Epic Games Store in order to play online and update the game.

On iOS, nothing will change for users in the US and many other parts of the world. Only in the European Union will the game be removed from the App Store and ported to the Epic Games Store because sideloading is available in the region. But unlike Fornite, which is not available on the App Store or Play Store worldwide, Rocket League Sideswipe will still be available on the App Store in many regions, but nowhere on the Play Store.

With the launch of the Epic Games Store for mobile comes the hit game Fall Guys, now available exclusively through the Epic Games Store for Android and iOS.
