RSPCA puppy ‘adorable’ Essex in ‘unusual condition’ finds new home

RSPCA puppy ‘adorable’ Essex in ‘unusual condition’ finds new home

An “adorable” puppy born with one eye smaller than the other has been adopted, RSPCA has said.

Despite Albi’s “unusual condition,” the animal welfare organization said he was their loudest and biggest puppy.

His mother Luna gave birth to five puppies, including Albi, on June 25, after being taken in as a stray by the RSPCA’s Danaher Animal Home in Essex in May.

The vet diagnosed Albi with microphthalmia, a condition in which one or more eyes do not develop properly in the womb. He also has problems with balance and may bump into things.

Danaher manager Sam Garvey said the team had launched an online appeal to find Albi a “safe and loving” home with someone who could “overlook his health issues.”

Siblings Franki and Dilan Ryan, who raised Luna and the puppies, said: “We noticed that Albi was noisy and often had trouble finding the other puppies when they were running around our lounge.

“Sometimes he loses his balance, runs into things and sits facing the wrong way, away from his siblings.”

Because of Albi’s pure white coloring, veterinarians also suspect that he may also be suffering from some hearing loss, an RSPCA spokesman said.

Mr Garvey added: “The appeal was so successful that we have managed to find wonderful new homes for Albi and all his siblings.”
