“Ryan Williams is a mature competitor, man. He’s one of the most mature guys I’ve ever recruited,” Nick Saban said Saturday on ESPN College GameDay. “As a freshman, he showed maturity. And what really tells you when a guy is a mature competitor is that he can focus on the things that matter.”

Ryan Williams originally committed to Alabama when Nick Saban was head coach, but he withdrew his commitment in January after Saban retired.

What makes Alabama’s true freshman WR Ryan Williams so special

It was an impressive start for Alabama First semester Ryan Williamsa 17-year-old phenomenon who has played two games in his career so far.

Williams was not only seen on the field, but also a key player in victories over USF And Western KentuckyA child who should be in high school could have a big impact on Alabama, according to BamaOnline Tim Watts.

He analyzed Williams’ potential with Kaiden Smith of On3 on The On3 Roundtable.

“He reminds me of Mark Jackson in the NBA, always saying, ‘Mom, there’s this man,'” Watts said. “I mean, when you hear all about Ryan (Williams), you can’t get more hype about Ryan Williams. He’s got the Hollywood nickname early on. From a young age, he’s telling people he’s going to be the best wide receiver in the country. You know, at 17 years old. He skips a year. He should be a senior, going after his three-time Alabama Mr. Football title, the only one to do it twice, by the way.

“And this guy here is making big plays on a college campus. So, I mean, there’s not really enough pressure. I think the easiest way to put it is, Ryan (Williams) is who we thought he was. He’s a superstar. Some kids just shine brighter. Some guys just shine at a different level, he’s got talent. I mean, it’s not just his work ethic. He’s got hands, a catch radius. He’s fast. He’s very quick, very quick, just a lot, the complete package.”
