The New Orleans Saints’ 2-0 start came after they played a supposedly good team, the Dallas Cowboys, and a supposedly bad team, the Carolina Panthers. Things have somewhat evened out for them in that regard, and yet they appear to have one of the easier paths in the league for the remainder of the 2024 NFL season.

The NFL Nerd Twitter account examined the teams’ remaining strength according to the new ESPN Power Rankings released Tuesday morning. That research found that the Saints have the fifth-lightest remaining strength according to those rankings, behind only the Philadelphia Eagles, Cincinnati Bengals, Indianapolis Colts and Washington Commanders. Of those five teams, only the Saints are undefeated.

Many of the Saints’ opponents also had ESPN rankings pretty high, including the Kansas City Chiefs (No. 1), Philadelphia Eagles (No. 6), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (No. 7) and Los Angeles Chargers (No. 9). However, they also ranked pretty low on many of their other opponents, including the Carolina Panthers (No. 32), New York Giants (No. 31), Denver Broncos (No. 30), Washington Commanders (No. 27) and even the Atlanta Falcons, who the Saints play twice, came in at No. 23.

The lower rankings seem to greatly compensate for the higher ones and if the Saints can take advantage of these easier periods, they could become a pretty big threat in the NFC.
