Scranton, Pennsylvania – Mark your calendars! Railfest returns to Steamtown National Historic Site (NHS) on Labor Day weekend: Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1, 2024. This year’s celebration is in partnership with the Society of the Iron HorseSteamtown’s official philanthropic partner. Both organizations are excited to collaborate to provide an interactive and immersive experience that celebrates the past, present and future of railroading.

Details for the weekend-long event are still being finalized. Activities such as train rides, community partners, ranger-led programs, live entertainment and more are expected! Steamtown NHS is located in downtown Scranton, Pennsylvania and is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. From Interstate-81, take exit 185 (President Biden Expressway, formerly known as the Central Scranton Expressway); then follow the brown and white signs to the park entrance at Lackawanna Avenue and Cliff Street (GPS: N 41.41, W 75.67).
