We have really bad news for the commentator on the story about JD Vance, who wanted to be Trump’s vice presidential candidate and said, “I hope the Secret Service doesn’t close Judy Lowe Park to expand security reserves!”

The Secret Service closes Judy Lowe Park to increase security reserves.

Technically, the City of Alexandria is closing Judy Lowe Neighborhood Park in cooperation with a request from the U.S. Secret Service. The City is also closing the residential block of E. Del Ray Avenue to residents only.

“Effective Sunday, August 25, and in response to a request from the United States Secret Service (USSS), the Judy Lowe Neighborhood Park, located at 1 & 7 E. Del Ray Ave., will be temporarily closed until further notice,” the city said in a statement. “In addition, the residential block of E. Del Ray Ave. (between Commonwealth Ave. and Clyde Ave.) will be closed to resident traffic only.”

The city’s website said the closure was for “the safety of a citizen protected by the Secret Service” and that JD Vance’s home is right next to the park. The release said the block and park will be closed until further notice. Traffic lanes, bike paths and sidewalks will remain open and untouched during the closure, but there will be no on-street parking on the east side of the 2200 block of Commonwealth Avenue.
