See what a $1.1 million home on Diamondhead Lake in Dexter offers

See what a .1 million home on Diamondhead Lake in Dexter offers

There’s still time to purchase a weekend home to enjoy with extended family this summer, and a large property on Diamondhead Lake offers a turnkey experience for an adventurous buyer with a penchant for the outdoors.

Real estate agent Chris Kew has listed the waterfront property for $1,115,000. Not only does it offer an oversized floor plan to easily host multiple guests, but the asking price includes all furniture, fixtures, a pontoon boat and a six-berth RV.

Located at the end of Diamondhead Drive on the east side of the 180-acre man-made lake, the home’s 3,000-square-foot main level and 1,500-square-foot finished basement have been completely renovated from their original use as a community center and restaurant.

Kew compared the surrounding neighborhood to a quieter alternative to buying a lake house on Lake Panorama or Okoboji. “It’s quieter. No rentals allowed. It’s a place for families,” he said.

The four-bedroom, four-bathroom property is built in a log cabin style inside and out and is just steps from its own dock on the private lake stocked with bass, catfish and other popular fishing fish.

Included in the home price is a 2015 Bennington 2275G Series Tri-toon boat and a solar-powered boat lift to encourage residents to spend some quality time on the water. “I also saw kayaks,” Kew added.

Up front, a full camper hookup transforms the 2018 Keystone Sprinter 26RB camper into a potential six-berth home extension. Kew described the bundled benefits as an “all-in-one” bonus for buyers unwilling to take on the extra time and expense of converting a potential second home.

The home is located five miles north of Dexter, Iowa, and seven miles from I-80. It could also be used as a year-round primary residence, a common choice among other lakefront residents. It is equipped with two boilers and two central air conditioning units for year-round comfort. Elementary, middle and high schools in the West Central Valley School District are less than five miles from the home.

Behind the double front doors is an open plan living area with exposed beams and gabled ceilings, a large kitchen with two kitchen islands and a wood burning fireplace.

The master bedroom and one further bedroom are located on the ground floor, two further bedrooms are located in the basement. The bathrooms in the basement have both been fitted with walk-in showers and saunas.

The expansive lower room has a second fireplace and easy access to the lake, as well as a second kitchen with appliances, living room seating, stools and a poker table. “You get the pool table, everything,” Kew added.

Relax outdoors on the covered upper level or downstairs overlooking the lakefront.

Given the type of buyer who might be interested in this type of property, Kew doubted the size would be suitable for a single owner or couple.

“I think it’s going to be someone who wants to get away from it all. Three or four kids. Or maybe kids and grandkids. Lives in town. Works a lot. Doesn’t have time to drive to Clear Lake or Lake Panorama. And thinks, ‘Let’s buy this, the whole family can stay Friday night and Saturday, and then I have to go back to work,'” he said.

The home is being offered by Chris Kew of RE/MAX Precision for $1,115,000. Contact Kew at 515-230-0488 for more information and a private showing.
