Morning report
These last days of summer will be warm and somewhat humid. The storm that is missing us now will stay offshore and send moisture back to the coast. This will increase high tides at high tide and humidity with the warm afternoons.
Our weekend starts off nicely so make the most of Saturday with a warm day, but showers are possible towards the evening.
Fall begins at 8:43 a.m. Sunday morning, and it will feel like it. Rain is expected to begin late Saturday night, giving us a rainy Sunday. That will bring us cooler weather and then more rain later next week.
Flood warning on the coast
The persistent easterly wind will bring some flooding at high tide through the weekend. The peak could be on Saturday and Sunday.
Flooding in Annapolis:
- Friday: 7:11 a.m.; 7:59 p.m.
- Saturday: 7:57 a.m.; 8:53 p.m.
- Sunday: 8:57 a.m.; 9:50 p.m.
Morning surface weather
This storm remains nearly stationary well offshore. The circulation around it and a drift back to the west should cause a rise in sea levels this weekend.
There is a breeze blowing FROM THE EAST, which makes it feel humid with sunshine and warm temperatures.

OUTLOOK
GFS model forecast animation
Monday to Thursday
The weather pattern is getting rainier, both with an area of low pressure moving in from the Midwest and with the development of “something tropical” that could develop in the Gulf of Mexico.
Showers will gradually move eastward later on Tuesday. More persistent rain (expected at this time) may arrive on Thursday.
Thursday
It’s too early to tell how strong the storm will be in the Gulf, let alone if it will get a name. Most likely, it will send tropical moisture north along the front and bring rain to our region.
7-day forecast
Two more days of warm and humid weather. Rain until Sunday morning, then it will be cooler. Next week we can expect more wet weather.

My message about dyslexia again
I realize there are some spelling and grammatical errors and the occasional other mishap. I take responsibility for my mistakes and even the computer errors I might miss. I’ve made a few public statements over the years, but if you’re new here, you may have missed it: I’m dyslexic and found out in my sophomore year at Cornell University. It didn’t stop me from getting my degree in meteorology and being the first to receive the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington area.
One of my professors told me that I had come this far without prior knowledge and that I shouldn’t use it as a crutch for the future. That was Mark Wysocki, and he was absolutely right! I overlook my mistakes when proofreading. The automatic spell checker on my computer sometimes does it wrong and makes it worse. I can also make mistakes with predictions. No one can predict the future perfectly. All the maps and information are correct. The “wordy” stuff can prove difficult.
There was no editor to review my work when writing and have it ready to ship in a timely timeline. Barbara Werner is a member of the web team that helps me maintain this site. She has taken it upon herself to correct typos when she has time. That might be AFTER you read this. I accept this and perhaps prove that what you are reading is really mine… That’s part of my charm. #FITF
