Several 7-Eleven stores in Hollywood robbed, thieves flee on bicycles

Two more 7-Eleven stores in Los Angeles were robbed and looted by a large group of thieves who fled on bicycles, making it three such crimes in eight days, and as of Saturday morning, authorities had still reported no arrests.

The last two robberies occurred about 20 minutes apart in Hollywood on Friday evening.

The first robbery was reported at 8:03 p.m. at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and La Brea Avenue, where about 20 people in their late teens or early 20s smashed windows and stole food and other goods, Los Angeles police reported.

At around 8:22 p.m., a similar group robbed a 7-Eleven in the 5700 block of Santa Monica Boulevard, near Western Avenue, also vandalized the store and then rode away on their bicycles.

Officer Drake Madison of the LAPD told City News Service that the thieves stole merchandise and food. He said it was unclear if the same group committed both robberies.

According to police, no injuries were reported.

Last week on Friday, August 9, about 50 youths vandalized the 7-Eleven store in the 8500 block of Olympic Boulevard, near La Cienega Boulevard, just outside of Beverly Hills, stealing merchandise, including cigarettes, before riding away on bicycles.

The police had no new information about this crime.
