Several roads and public offices in Tangipahoa closed due to flooding and damage after Hurricane Francine

HAMMOND, Louisiana (WVUE) – Due to flooding and damage from Hurricane Francine, several road closures have been announced in Tangipahoa Parish.

Tangipahoa Parish Road and Bridge crews are currently working to clear several roadblocks caused by fallen trees and/or downed power lines. This list includes:

  • Antioch Road, a quarter mile north of Chavers Lane
  • Black Cat Road, approximately 1,500 feet west of US 51;
  • Brickyard Road, about 1,000 feet north of Elm Street;
  • Brown Road (Ponchatoula) at Sisters Road;
  • September rain, south of Sweet Olive Lane, power lines down;
  • General Ott, about 300 feet west of Happywoods Road, fallen tree.

This list will be updated as teams continue to conduct assessments in the community.

The National Weather Service reports that a Flood Warning is in effect for Tangipahoa Parish due to the effects of Hurricane Francine until 7:00 a.m. Thursday, September 12.

In the wake of Hurricane Francine, Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller announces that all Tangipahoa Parish offices and the Tangipahoa Parish Landfill will be closed on Thursday, September 12.

To help residents clean up their homes and properties, Miller said landfill crews have committed to working extra hours on Saturday, Sept. 14. As things stand, the landfill will be open between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
