Shooting at gas station on Moffett Road leaves one dead

MOBILE, Alabama (WALA) – One person was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital following a shooting at a gas station on Moffett Road, Mobile police reported.

It was just after 10 p.m. Thursday when officers rushed to the Chevron gas station at 4126 Moffett Road for a report of gunfire. Police said they discovered a vehicle, a gas pump and a nearby home that had been struck by gunfire.

At the scene, officers learned that a male victim was transported by private vehicle to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to MPD, the fire came from a vehicle that had driven into the parking lot. No one was injured in the nearby house that was hit by the gunfire, police said.

Early Friday afternoon, police distributed a photo of a person who was inside the Chevron gas station Thursday evening. Investigators are asking the public for help in identifying the person. The MPD said he “is not considered a person of interest, but investigators would like to speak with him as soon as possible.”
