At least three people were injured in a shooting near Union Station in downtown Denver on Tuesday night. The victims, all adults, are being treated at a local hospital. There was a significant police presence in the area.
“The Denver Police Department is investigating a shooting in the area between 16th St and Wazee St. Three victims were transported to a local hospital. The extent of injuries is unknown at this time. The investigation is ongoing and officers are working to gather information on the suspect,” the Denver Police Department reported on X.
In a follow-up statement, the department added: “There is a large police presence in the area and the scene is secured. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact @CrimeStoppersCO at 720-913-STOP(7867).”
The shooting occurred shortly before 6 p.m. at the intersection of Wazee Street and 16th Street, near Union Station. The extent of the victims’ injuries is still unclear, but they were all taken to the hospital.
No details about the suspect have been released, but a white SUV was cordoned off with police tape at the corner of 16th and Wynkoop streets. No arrests have been reported so far.
The shooting occurred outside the Thirsty Lion gastropub on the corner of 16th and Wynkoop. The restaurant manager told 9NEWS that all occupants were safe.
