Vintage shops in the Old Town district in the northeast Oddities with moths, Vintage Oil, The Golden Pearl VintageAnd Twelve Vultures have joined forces to host the first Northeast Vintage Block Party on September 7th.

The four shops have invited several vintage dealers, artists and brands from the Twin Cities to open a pop-up store in the parking lot at Fifth Street NE and Hennepin Ave. behind the historic buildings that house their storefronts — what they informally refer to as the “Northeast Vintage Block.”

“The Northeast Vintage Block is a special little corner in the Twin Cities,” says Yana Pietras, co-owner of men’s and women’s vintage boutique Moth Oddities. “We have something for everyone in our four vintage shops. We’re a one-stop shop for vintage clothing and accessories for all genders, sizes, ages and occasions, as well as jewelry, records, art, decor, glassware, rare curios, fun knickknacks and more. Every visit is a treasure hunt, and each shop specializes in something different than the next. Our common thread is a love of community and sustainability. That’s what we celebrate at Blockfest.”

Pietras, along with Adam DeJarlais of Twelve Vultures, Audra Frizzell of The Golden Pearl Vintage and the vendors of Olio’s, created the street festival to bring a sense of community and small business shopping to the forefront following the summer’s heavy road construction in the Twin Cities, including Old Town, which is currently affecting small businesses.

“It’s fair to say our businesses are also affected by these factors,” Pietras says. “The Northeast Vintage Block Party is an opportunity to strengthen our small business community with the support of our neighbors and friends.”

In addition to pop-ups from artists and vintage collectors, the street festival, which is free and open to the public, will feature food and drinks from Gardens of Salonica and music from local DJ Jake Ryan. September 7, 11am–6pm, mothoddities.com
