ShopRite is expanding its partnership with Grocery TV to make the platform’s retail media network available to select pharmacies in their stores.

In an Aug. 13 announcement, the Austin, Texas-based software company said it plans to roll out the digital pharmacy solution to several retailers it works with, including ShopRite, which is part of the brand name of Keasbey-based Wakefern Food Corp.

Similar to the features Grocery TV already has in place at grocery store checkouts, the pharmacy-specific technology will provide the department and ShopRite’s brand partners with retailer news, health and wellness content, and relevant brand advertising.

ShopRite also plans to use the platform to promote price savings on prescription drugs and provide customers with information about the pharmacy and other health-related offerings.

Don Oelke, founder and chief operating officer of Grocery TV, noted that pharmacies tend to have longer dwell times than other departments of a store. He said the area offers retailers and brand advertisers “a valuable touchpoint with customers, especially for health, pharmaceutical and fitness products or services.”

“Many of the supermarkets in our network have pharmacies, so it was a natural next step to provide a tailored in-store retail media experience for that part of the store,” he said.

Grocery TV operates nearly 5,000 supermarkets across the country, making it the leading retail media platform. In addition to ShopRite – which has more than 300 stores in the Northeast – the company works with chains such as Winn-Dixie and Smart & Final.

“ShopRite Pharmacy is excited to expand their in-store retail media network into the pharmacy space with Grocery TV,” said Darren Caudill, Chief Sales Officer at Wakefern. “They have streamlined the process of adding new touchpoints in our stores and made it easy for us to manage our in-store messaging through their content management system, allowing us to deliver important information to our ShopRite Pharmacy customers.”
