Shreveport man arrested for arson in his home

Caddo officers were dispatched to the 10,000 block of Buncombe Road at 10:53 p.m., where the victim reported that her son, Frederick D. Washington, 43had set her house on fire while she was still inside. While the victim attempted to put out the fire, Washington stole her vehicle.

Later that evening, the victim’s vehicle was seen traveling at a high rate of speed on Westport Avenue. Officers searched the area and quickly located the stolen vehicle at the PETRO Truck Stop at 6910 W Bert Kouns/Industrial Loop, Shreveport, LA. The vehicle was unoccupied. Officers then spotted the suspect wandering around the rear parking lot between parked semi-trucks.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident, and the State Fire Marshal charged Washington with attempted second-degree manslaughter, and Caddo officials charged him with auto theft.

Washington was transported to the Caddo Correction Center where he was arrested on the above charges.
