Sioux Gateway Airport will receive a total of 0,000 for improvements in fiscal year 2025

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCAU) — Sioux Gateway Airport (SUX) will receive $528,330 for improvements in the next fiscal year.

SUX is just one of many airports in Iowa receiving a total of $9,280,392 for improvements through the State Aviation Program for fiscal year 2025. The State Aviation Program includes several subprograms.

SUX will receive $400,000 for the $600,000 south runway reconstruction. Funding will come from the Airport Improvement Program, which provides funding for aviation safety initiatives, systems planning and air service development activities. More than 20 projects will receive a total of $6.3 million.

Other Siouxland airports receiving Airport Improvement Program funds include Carroll Arthur N Neu Airport, Denison Municipal Airport, Le Mars Municipal Airport, Milford Municipal Airport, Rock Rapids Municipal Airport, Sioux County Regional Airport and Spencer Municipal Airport.

Another sub-program is Aviation Vertical Infrastructure. This program provides funding for the maintenance and development of airport facilities. Under this program, SUX will receive $128,330 to replace a terminal roof.

According to Shane Wright, Iowa DOT Aviation Program Manager, the numerous projects under the State Aviation Program for Fiscal Year 2025 are helping to develop an aviation system that supports the economy and essential aviation services in the state.

“It builds a strong aviation system while leveraging state, local and private investment,” Wright said.
