FILIPINOTOWN, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Tucked away on Temple Street in LA’s historic Filipinotown, Sisig Restaurant is a local favorite for serving authentic Filipino flavors to the community.

“It’s about the way we cook it, how we present it and the taste. A totally different taste than in other cultures. So we want people to try it and maybe then they’ll love it,” says Rex Quizon, owner and chef of Sisig Restaurant.

Quizon and his wife Antoinette opened Sisig in 2020.

Soon, both regulars and new guests began coming to the restaurant to enjoy traditional Filipino food, including delicious grilled pork, beef and chicken.

One dish you can’t miss is sisig, the restaurant’s namesake. It’s a popular dish made of pork belly, onion and lemon, served with your choice of rice.

Other favorites: Lumpia, which are fried spring rolls, Loco Moco, fried noodles and many filling soups.

You must try Goto. It is a pork porridge with rice, fried tofu and pork belly. The broth is slow cooked for hours!

The menu offers a lot. To maximize the experience, most customers choose the combo. For $17.50 you get two meats and two sides.

Quizon says Sisig’s commitment to fresh, quality ingredients and its made-to-order approach sets it apart. And he hopes to see you again soon at Sisig!

“When a new customer comes in for the first time and says they love our food, it’s just a great feeling. For example, sometimes you look at your plate and the only thing left is a piece of pepper,” he said.

Sisig is located at 1714 W. Temple St. It is open seven days a week and serves breakfast on weekends.
