Skimming device found at gas station – Parkland Talk

This is a summary of crimes and other incidents in Parkland through August 12, 2024, compiled as part of our joint efforts with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to keep residents informed.

The report was made on June 8, 2024. The caller reported that he had received a threatening call from an unknown male using a withheld number. The caller wanted to report it because his ex-girlfriend had obtained a protection order against him.

On August 12, 2024, a theft victim (all other cases) was reported. The total estimated loss was $40,000. The victim reported that his travel trailer (built in 2022) was stolen from his company premises.

Information was reported on 08/08/2024. Deputies responded to a possible shooting. Upon arrival, there was no shooting and the incident was a swatting call.

On 08/08/2024, a property damage report was made. The caller reported that she was driving on the grass on the west side of the road when she drove over something that flattened two tires on her vehicle. The caller needed a report for insurance purposes.

A Fraud Victim – Identity Fraud was reported on 08/08/2024. The victim contacted BSO to file a complaint about an unknown individual using her personal information to obtain employment with the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA).

Wawa was the victim of a credit card/ATM fraud at 7705 N State Road 7 reported on 8/9/2024. BSO responded to Wawa and met with management regarding an ATM skimming device found placed in the store’s ATM.

On August 10, 2024, a suspicious incident occurred. A resident reported receiving a suspicious phone call from an unknown person threatening him to stay away from his “baby mama.” The resident is currently single and not in a romantic relationship with anyone. He believes the call was an accident or a prank.

On 08/10/2024, a theft of automotive parts was reported. The total estimated damage was $250. An adult male reported his license plate and decal were stolen from the parking lot in front of Di Pizza.

Information was reported on 08/11/2024. A neighborhood dispute over parking was reported. The caller initially stated that one party was armed with a weapon, but later investigation showed this to be false.

On 08/11/2024, an animal bite was reported. The reporter said the neighbor’s dog entered their home through an open sliding door. The dog attempted to attack the neighbor’s dog and when her mother-in-law pushed him back outside, the dog snapped at her and bit her right hand, resulting in a very small scratch/puncture wound.

Arrests

Khan, Khuram Adnan, 45, was arrested on 11/08/2024 for touching or hitting/assault/domestic violence.
