Skip Bayless may not be actively participating in shows, but that didn’t stop him from reacting to Dak Prescott’s massive contract extension.

The Dallas Cowboys star quarterback reportedly agreed to a four-year, $240 million contract just hours before kickoff on Sunday morning.

The contract makes Prescott the highest-paid player in NFL history.

And Bayless, who left FS1’s “Undisputed” last month, turned to X and made his decision his own, capping a lengthy process that ended with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones paying both Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb what they wanted.

“Jerry Jones just made a quarterback who has failed in three straight playoff losses – who is 2-5 in playoff games – the highest-paid player in NFL history,” Bayless said. “That’s why Jerry’s Dallas Cowboys haven’t even made it to an NFC championship game in nearly 30 years. Now I’m stuck… WITH DAK.”

It was the first in a series of posts.

Bayless added just three minutes later that at 72, his “love” for the Cowboys was being “tested like never before.”

He questioned Prescott’s ability to be a winning quarterback.

“When Dak Prescott was running my team, we were down 27-0 in a home playoff game as the No. 2 seed in the Dallas Cowboys’ last game. Dak’s reward: the largest contract in NFL history,” Bayless noted.

He also sharply criticized Jones for giving the job to Prescott after he had made non-committal public statements.

“Jerry Jones convinced me right up until the very beginning that he actually had the vision and courage to let Dak play this season without a new contract and PROVE himself,” Bayless wrote, “even if it meant losing him to free agency. But Jerry (as he says) did not have the ‘tolerance for ambiguity.'”

The Cowboys face an unfavorable opponent in Week 1: On Sunday afternoon they play against the Cleveland Browns, who arguably have the best defense in the NFL.
