Skull And Bones is on sale for $10 at Best Buy for one day only

Skull And Bones is on sale for at Best Buy for one day only

Highlights

  • “Skull And Bones” is on sale again, this time for $10.
  • The price of the pirate game has been reduced at Best Buy, but the offer is only valid today.
  • Although the $70 game was only released six months ago, it has been on sale many times.

Every time I post that Skull And Bones is on sale (and it has been many times), I realize that given the development time and the money Ubisoft has to recoup from it, it’s unlikely the game will be this cheap again until its developers finally relent and make it free to play. Less than a week ago, I told you all that the live service pirated game had been marked down to $14.99, and I made a point of pointing out that it was unlikely it would ever be available cheaper until it was free. Turns out I was wrong again, because now, six days later, you can get it for $10.

I apologize to those who snapped it up when it was $14.99, and congratulations to those who stuck it out and can now buy Skull And Bones for $10. And to anyone waiting for it to get even cheaper: hey, keep it up. I’m not going to say the game won’t be cheaper this time until it’s free, because if I do, I know I’ll be back here in a week writing about Skull And Bones being discounted to $7.99 on Amazon.

There’s a catch with Skull And Bones being $10 at Best Buy, but that won’t affect you as long as you’re reading this article on the day it was written. The massive price cut is a one-day deal that runs until 1am EST on Monday, August 12. After that, the game will go back to full price, which is surprisingly still $70. The deal applies to both the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game. Just make sure you’ve selected the correct platform before adding the game to your cart.

It will not be cheaper than it is, that cannot be, that does not exist

SKULL AND BONES

Skull and Bones

2.0/5

Skull and Bones is a pirate action game from Ubisoft with an open multiplayer mode. Set in the Indian Ocean, you must improve your reputation as a pirate, build and command ships, and plunder to your heart’s content.

Skull And Bones had so many problems and delays during its ten-year development that it was quite surprising that the game even saw the light of day. The video game landscape went through some major changes during that development period, meaning that asking people to pay $70 for a live service version of the sailing elements from Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag wasn’t realistic when it released just six months ago.

The problem is that given the amount of money pumped into Skull & Bones, it wasn’t possible to make it free-to-play. While Ubisoft games often go on sale a few months after their release, I can’t remember ever seeing anything as extreme as this. A $70 game that’s only six months old is available for $15 within a week, and then $10. There’s no exact data on how many copies were sold. All we know is that the game failed to attract even a million players in its first month.
