SNGPL arrests 11 more gas thieves

LODHRAN – The UFG Control Task Force of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) managed to catch another eleven gas thieves red-handed.

According to details, six consumers were caught tampering with meters to steal gas, causing loss to the department in the form of unaccounted gas (UFG). Their meters were disconnected and further action was recommended by the department. In Jalalpur Pirwala, three meters were disconnected as private meters were being used for commercial purposes, especially in schools, causing significant financial loss to the department. Fines were recommended in these cases.

In addition, a domestic meter used for commercial purposes was disconnected in Multan. The user resisted by gathering people but later handed over the meter before the police arrived.

One user’s meter was disconnected as it was installed far away from the utility facility, resulting in gas leakage and loss to the department. In addition, three users had to move their meters closer to the utility facility due to similar problems. Five users also violated OGRA regulations for supplying gas to multiple households from a single connection and their extensions were removed.

The head of the task force stated that the ministry is committed to ensuring a safe and reliable gas supply within its network and is vigilant against any activities that threaten national interests.
