Sofia Vergara became the first Latina ever to win in the Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Anthology Series or a Movie category at the 2024 Emmy Awards – and although she didn’t take home the award, she made the night unforgettable!
The America’s Got Talent Judge looked stunning in a red strapless dress as she walked the red carpet with the cast of Griseldaand spent valuable time with her son Manolo.
Our favorite moment of the evening, however, was when the 52-year-old took time out during her special evening to celebrate her son Manolo’s 33rd birthday – and what else? With a dance party!
“Happy birthday @manolonzalezvergara 🥳🥳🥳 love you!!!!!” wrote Vergara.
Manolo has been a passionate supporter of his mother throughout her career, and when it was announced that Vergara was nominated for a 2024 Emmy, he commemorated the historic premiere with a super sweet Instagram post on July 17:
“What an incredible day!!!!! Felicidades for making history as the first Latina nominated for Lead Actress in a Miniseries!!!!!!!!! La Jefa!” he wrote in the caption.
Even though Vergara didn’t get to take home the jewels, she still inspired countless fans who still marvel at the star’s history-making Emmy nomination moment – and she gave her son a birthday he’ll never forget!
“Thank you for being a shining example of Latino excellence. Your hard work and perseverance inspire us all to pursue our dreams and never give up!” a fan commented on one of Vergara’s 13 Emmy-related Instagram posts on September 15.
Of course, Vergara was not alone at the 2024 Emmys. She was not only surrounded by the cast and crew of Griselda (including her cousin and co-star), but her best friend Heidi Klum accompanied her before the AGT Live final!

Judges Klum, Vergara, Howie Mandel and Simon Cowell, as well as the show’s millions of viewers, have their hands full. Now that the live semifinals are officially over, all eyes are on the final acts trying to cement their place in AGT Story.
The acts are getting wilder and crazier from week to week, and as Klum said Access to Hollywood in April 2022, AGT always ensures a “rollercoaster of emotions” at the live finals.
“Nothing becomes redundant and nothing becomes the same,” Klum explained. “Every day is new and different… you see all these crazy, different people on stage. We have the best time. I always call it a ‘roller coaster of emotions’ because one person comes and sings. The next is an aerialist. The next is a contortionist or a comedian. Everyone has a story to tell because they are real people. They are not actors. This is not a movie. This is real life. It’s always fun to hear the stories… it never gets boring.”
The live finale will air on Tuesday, September 17th at 8/7c. Once the dust settles, the winner will be crowned one week later on September 24th. Let the rollercoaster ride begin!
