Solez shoe store in La Cañada Flintridge targeted in two consecutive break-ins

LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE, Calif. (KABC) — A shoe store in La Cañada Flintridge was hit by burglars twice in one week – and the owner believes it was probably the same gang.

Video shows how three masked perpetrators smash the window at Solez last Thursday at around 3 a.m., loot the store and disappear with valuable goods.

“This is the absolute worst thing that could happen because if I can’t offer my customers something when they come in, that’s just the worst feeling,” said the store owner, who wished to remain anonymous.

Although the owner hired security, the store was robbed again just a few days later – on Monday at around 6 a.m.

“They waited until the security guard got off work. And from that second until about a couple of minutes after the security guard left, they smashed the front window,” the owner said.

Surveillance video from across the street shows at least three suspects loading goods into a silver sedan on Monday.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the investigation is ongoing and the suspects are still at large.

A mother and son who spoke to Eyewitness News behind closed doors said their red Hyundai was stolen and used by the suspects to get to the store. When they found the car, they found the engine was still running.

“I think they are the same people,” said the shop owner.

“It seems so. It could have been other people. Of course, we never know 100%, but I think, and the police probably think too, that it’s the same gang. They knew the store was at risk. They knew they could do it. It wasn’t their first time.”
