Stop me if you’ve heard this before. Popular pizza restaurant Santucci’s Original Square Pizza is coming to Brigantine “soon,” according to Santucci’s website.

Santucci’s opens three stores in New South Jersey

Santucci’s website says they are opening three new Garden State locations in Cherry Hill, Deptford and Brigantine, 3800 Brigantine Blvd.

Opening dates for the new shops have not (yet) been announced.

I first told you about plans to open Santucci’s in Brigantine in September 2023, days after the Brigantine Planning Board unanimously approved the site plan for the restaurant at the former site of the 7-Eleven convenience store that closed in 2015.

Santucci’s existing South Jersey locations are Wildwood, Ventnor and Washington Township. The chain also has six locations in Pennsylvania and another planned for University City Philly.

Santucci’s expansion in South Jersey

Santucci’s expanded to the Jersey Shore in 2018 when it opened in a former hardware store in Ventnor.

In 2019, it opened a pizzeria on the Ocean City Boardwalk; that location closed in 2022. Two years ago, Santucci’s opened in Wildwood.

Remember that Santucci’s is a franchise business and each franchisee must deal with their own business questions and plans when opening their restaurant.

Still, what’s up with the Brigantine Santucci’s? I wish I could tell you.

The Sauce on Top Style Pizza

Founded in 1959 in the Juniata Park neighborhood of Northeast Philadelphia by husband and wife Joseph and Philomena Santucci, Santucci’s still makes its pizzas in square pans using the family recipe.

Santucci’s pizza style, touted as “Philadelphia’s Original Square Pizza,” is based on the typical “sauce-on-top” pizza recipe traditional in Northern Italy.

In addition to pizza, Santucci’s offers a menu of Italian dishes, salads, delicious chicken wings and desserts.

Do not confuse (Frank) Santucci’s Original Square Pizza restaurants with Joe Santucci’s Original Square Pizza Bar & Grill in Northeast Philadelphia and Philomena Santucci’s Square Pizza in Warminster and Hatfield, Pennsylvania, which are run by Frank Santucci’s siblings.
