Anyone hoping for a nice, quiet break from work at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Monday was sadly denied the pleasure of seeing a tugboat bearing the Southwest Airlines logo tearing through a lounge. Although no injuries or deaths were reported, there is a strong belief that someone needs to explain what happened.

“Fresh donuts in the on-call room?”

On Monday, a break room was discovered ravaged by a royal blue tractor and was filled with debris. A huge hole had been left in the wall and several tables had been pushed against each other.

A video of the aftermath was uploaded by the Instagram account @airport_ramplife. The 18-second clip shows large sheets of plasterboard strewn everywhere, chairs overturned and metal bars bent. The tug almost missed a workstation with computers set up against the break room wall. The footage currently has over 2,000 likes.

In the video, the voice of an employee could be heard suggesting that someone could have died if they had gotten in the path of the tractor.
“Did someone say there were fresh donuts in the on-call room?!” commented an Instagram user.

As of Wednesday morning, there were no public comments from Southwest Airlines or Fort Lauderdale Airport.

Fortunately, no one was seriously injured and no serious equipment appeared to be damaged. Judging by the hole in the wall, it will be a while before workers can use it for a nice cup of coffee again. How the accident happened, however, remains a mystery. Tugs can malfunction, causing them to go in their own direction even when unoccupied, LINK . Hopefully, the cause of the problem was not an act of incompetence.

But what do you think? Was this accident at Fort Lauderdale Airport due to a malfunction or human error? Feel free to leave a comment below!
