South Ripley continued to make progress on the golf course earlier this week, playing on two consecutive nights and securing two second place finishes against familiar local competition.

The two games were part of four games this week as the Lady Raiders’ schedule remains full early in the season.

South Ripley shot 267 on Monday to finish second to Switzerland County in a three-way match that also included Jac-Cen-Del. Lilly Jones shot 54 in nine holes for the Lady Raiders and her teammate Callie Comer followed with 60. Jocelyn Meador and Aliyah Grigsby rounded out the scores with 71 and 72, respectively.

At the time of going to press, neither the team scores of the two opponents nor the individual scores for Jac-Cen-Del were available.

Head coach Brad Goldsberry saw his Lady Raiders improve by 24 strokes Tuesday in a second-place match at Kelly’s against North Decatur, Jac-Cen-Del and Lawrenceburg. North won the match at 234, South Ripley was close behind at 243 and the Lady Eagles finished three strokes back in third place at 246. The Lawrenceburg squad rounded out the leaderboard at 263.

It was a big night for Jones, who secured an individual medal for the first time this season, winning the Lady Raider championship with a nine-hole score of 48. Comer and Meador each had 63 and Kaleigh Bearden, competing for the first time this week, put a 69 on the scorecard.

Jac-Cen-Del’s individual results were not available at press time. The Lady Eagles are not scheduled to play again until Monday at Sunrise Golf Course in Madison.

South Ripley was scheduled to play on Wednesday, but today he will travel to The Links in Rising Sun.
