The county’s Housing and Community Development Services (HCDS) is introducing a waiting list for renters interested in living in three new housing developments with specialized units that support seniors, low-income families and disabled adults experiencing homelessness.

These units are supported by rental subsidies from the Project-Based Housing Choice Voucher (PBV). Eligible applicants are selected from the waiting list and, if approved by the landlord, pay an affordable rent equal to approximately 30% of their income.

From Thursday, August 29, 7:30 a.m., applications will be available online and can be submitted at www.sdhcd.org. Applications are also accepted in person at the HCDS office, which opens at 7:30 a.m. and has copies available, or by phone at 858-694-4801.

“County project-based vouchers encourage the development of much-needed affordable housing in the region and are an important way the county supports the housing needs of vulnerable groups such as the elderly and disabled,” said David Estrella, director of HCDS.

Public notices are published on HCDS websiteLocal newspapers, social media, email newsletters, and flyers distributed to county partners and community centers.

Waiting lists will be opened for the following project-based voucher developments.
