State of emergency declared at Thiruvananthapuram airport after bomb threat on Air India flight | News from India

NEW DELHI: Air IndiaFlight from Mumbai to Thiruvananthapuram was placed in an isolation ward at the airport following a bomb threat.
Authorities at Thiruvananthapuram Airport has declared a state of emergency, the news agency PTI reported, citing sources.
“The bomb threat was made by the pilot as the aircraft approached Thiruvananthapuram airport,” the sources revealed.
A total of 135 passengers were on board the aircraft. Further information on the origin of the threat is not yet available.
“AI 657 (BOM-TRV) reported a bomb threat at 07:30 am on August 22, 2024. A state of emergency was declared at TRV airport at 07:36 am. The aircraft landed safely. It is now at Isolation Bay where evacuation has begun. There was no impact on human life. Airport operations are currently running without interruption,” Thiruvananthapuram International Airport said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Air India said in a statement that a special safety alert was detected on flight AI 657 during the flight from Mumbai to Thiruvananthapuram and “the crew performed all mandatory safety drills keeping passenger safety as top priority.”
“All passengers and crew disembarked safely. For Air India, the safety of its passengers and crew is our highest priority,” an airline spokesman said.
