Steelers put OLB Markus Golden on the elimination list –

The Pittsburgh Steelers have an experienced OLB Markus Golden on the reserve/dropout list on Friday.

Markus Golden

Golden recently signed with the Steelers, but it seems like he has decided to end his career.

Golden, 33, was selected in the second round by the Cardinals in 2015. He played out the final year of his four-year rookie contract and signed a one-year, $3.75 million deal with the Giants after trying the free agent market for the first time in his NFL career.

New York took advantage of the unrestricted free agent offer for Golden in 2020, which paid him approximately $5.1 million for the 2020 season, a 110 percent increase over his previous season and a $1 million incentive.

However, the Giants traded Golden back to the Cardinals mid-season for a late-round pick. Arizona extended his contract by one year through 2023 worth up to $6.5 million, but released him before the 2023 season. He signed with the Steelers.

Over the course of his nine-year career, Golden appeared in 127 games and recorded 51 sacks, 343 total tackles, 11 forced fumbles, 8 passes defensed and 1 interception for the Cardinals, Giants and Steelers.
