Chad McQueen has died at the age of 63, the Karate Kid star’s family confirmed.

The son of actor and racing driver Steve McQueen was best known for his role in the 1984 classic and also appeared in the sequel “Karate Kid II”.


McQueen played the role of Dutch in the original films and also appeared in other films, such as “New York Cop” (1993).

According to his wife Jeanie and his children Chase and Madison, the actor apparently died on Wednesday at his ranch in California.

It was reported that he died of progressive organ failure. McQueen reportedly sustained an injury in 2020 and never fully recovered.

In a statement to Variety, his family said: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, Chad McQueen.”

McQueen’s last acting role was that of Manny Carlotti in the 2001 film The Fall.

Outside of his career, he was an enthusiastic racing driver and took part in various races.

Fans have remembered and paid tribute to the actor on social media, with one writing to X: “RIP Chad McQueen #KarateKid #KarateKidPartII #CobraKaiOG.”
