“Stop ripping us off!” rages Walmart customer, “who had to pay $6 more than the store price at the self-checkout – and warns: ‘Watch out!'”

“Stop ripping us off!” rages Walmart customer, “who had to pay more than the store price at the self-checkout – and warns: ‘Watch out!'”

A Walmart customer is angry after realizing he was charged an extra six dollars for using the retailer’s self-checkout lanes.

The machines have annoyed many customers in the major retail chains.

In a long post on Facebook, the social media user raged about the bizarre accusation.

“Everyone please be careful at the checkout,” wrote Jennifer Grisham Durbin.

“That was a few minutes ago at Walmart in Henderson! They’re getting so much of our money they’re going to try to rip us off even more!”

“Over $6 difference between the amount charged and the actual price!! The cashier changed the price but never mentioned that the change was in the system or notified anyone!! Stop ripping us off,” she continued.

To clear up any confusion, Durbin elaborated on what happened inside the store.

“I’ll explain it so everyone understands. I took my items to the self-checkout because the lines were long and I was in a hurry,” she explained.

“I scanned the two generic Excedrins and both cost $8.38. I waved to the cashier who helped me with the self-checkout.”

“I told her that wasn’t the price on the shelf. She asked what the price was and I couldn’t remember exactly. I told her I would take a picture and show it to her,” Durbin continued, mentioning one of the several photos attached to the post.

“I did that and this is the picture I posted. She then entered the correct price of $2.32. When she did that, my receipt showed that I saved $6.06 over the price they charged.”

“These were NOT on offer,” she said.

I paid $106 too much at Walmart and was given a blank stare when I went back – then an employee gave me a reason why I was paying more

“If you look in the comments you’ll see where I circled the price on the shelf which is valid as of 5/27/24!”

“How many people did they overpay for this product alone?” Durbin wondered.

“Watch everything you buy while scanning and see for yourself!!! Whether it’s a few cents or over $6, imagine the extra profit Walmart makes just from mistakes like this!”

Durbin speculates that Walmart is trying to use the extra profits “to get money back for stolen products from people who aren’t stealing, and you can’t convince me otherwise!”

What to do if you have been overcharged?

If you have overpaid a merchant, there are several ways to get your money back.

If you discover that you have been charged more than the advertised or stated price, report it to a co-worker or supervisor.

Be sure to keep your receipt to prove the price difference.

As a buyer, you are entitled to the lowest price offered, advertised or stated by the store.

If you are charged more than the advertised, stated or quoted price, report it to the seller immediately. If the seller cannot help you, speak to the manager.

Stores must honor a published price even if that price has expired.

You can also dispute the charges with your bank if you notice anything suspicious on your bank statement.

According to the Los Angeles County Department of Consumer and Business

“They’re stealing from us! As if they weren’t already raising prices,” Durbin concluded.

“Stand up for yourself, because no one else will, that’s for sure!!!”

The US Sun has asked Walmart for comment

Durbin is not the only person who was overpaid by the retailer.

The customer claimed Walmart overcharged him around $109 and only noticed it after paying.

Like Durbin, the shopper warned other shoppers to avoid a particular New Jersey store after the incident.

Unlike Durbin, the buyer did not provide a photo of the receipt, so it is unclear what he overpaid for.
