Stop & Shop closes 15 stores in New England

Stop & Shop closes 15 stores in New England

This will be a rough holiday season for many Stop & Shop employees in New England. The company announced it will close 32 “underperforming” stores on or before November 2, 2024, including 8 locations in Massachusetts, 5 locations in Connecticut and 2 in Rhode Island.

The article states that the company is being “restructured” for the benefit of customers.

Interestingly, Aldi, a discount grocer, is planning to expand and open more stores in the Northeast, as progressivegrocer.com reports. Perhaps Stop & Shop is having staffing problems?

This could also be an opportunity for Trader Joes, because according to sunset.com this supermarket chain also has expansion plans. #ilovetraderjoes
