An attempted robbery victim was stabbed to death Tuesday by an employee at the Elysian Park store he was trying to rob.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, it happened around 4:15 p.m. at the Leo Market in the 1300 block of W. Sunset Boulevard near Douglas Street.

The circumstances of the robbery are still unclear, but investigators say a store employee stabbed the suspect during the incident. Police allege the employee used the suspect’s own knife during the stabbing attack.

The suspect was taken to hospital in unknown condition. His identity has not yet been established.

Officials say the suspect is suspected of attempted robbery.
