Summer Restaurant Week; Styx + Foreigner

MONDAY

Summer Restaurant Week

5 p.m., Monday through Sunday, August 12-18. The Fish House, Atlas Oyster House, Jackson’s Steakhouse, Five Sisters Blues Café and Angelena’s Ristorante Italiano once again team up to present Summer Restaurant Week. In keeping with similar events in cities across the country, Restaurant Week is a culinary celebration that offers locals and visitors alike world-class food at a great value. Chefs from each restaurant will prepare a three-course prix fixe dinner, using the finest local and seasonal ingredients to showcase their culinary prowess. $33 per person per restaurant. Monday Night Blues

Monday, August 12, 7 p.m. Seville Quarter, 130 E. Government St. Seville Quarter and the Blues Society of Northwest Florida are bringing the blues back to the Seville Quarter Entertainment District. TUESDAY

Bands on the beach

Tuesday, August 13, 7 p.m. Gulfside Pavilion at Casino Beach, Pensacola Beach. Bands on the Beach is Pensacola Beach’s popular outdoor summer concert series, featuring artists for every musical taste. Featuring a lineup of regional artists, the series offers an eclectic musical experience all summer long. This week’s performance is by The Astronauts. THURSDAY

Jackson’s and Julia

Thursday, August 15. Jackson’s Steakhouse, 400 S. Palafox St. To celebrate the 112th birthday of famed chef Julia Child, Jackson’s Steakhouse is offering a special dinner in her honor. Child was America’s first, if somewhat reluctant, food celebrity. She stubbornly insisted she was not a “chef,” but single-handedly changed the way this country thinks about food. Eric Johanson

Thursday, August 15, 7 p.m. The Handlebar, 319 N. Tarragona St. Eric Johanson will perform live with the John Hart Project. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door. More information: thehandlebar850.com.

FRIDAY

Cinemas in the sand

Sunset on Friday, August 16. Gulfside Pavilion, 20 Casino Beach Blvd., Pensacola Beach. Pack your beach chairs and a blanket and bury your toes in the sugar-white sand while watching classic family movies on Pensacola Beach. The Santa Rosa Island Authority invites families and children, young and old, to “Cinemas in the Sand” movie nights on Pensacola Beach. This week’s screening is “Pets.” Admission is free. Gallery Night

Friday, August 16, 5:00 p.m. Downtown Pensacola. Gallery Night Pensacola is a nonprofit organization with a mission to inspire culture, engagement and art of all kinds in a fun event for all ages and walks of life. These monthly events focus on specific themes, highlight select artists and recruit the best artists the area has to offer. This month’s theme is Auto Show. Mewvie Night in August

Friday, August 16, 7 p.m. Coastal Cat Café, 1508 W. Garden St. Immerse yourself in a cozy atmosphere surrounded by over 15 adorable, adoptable kitties. Snuggle up for two hours of cat fun and heartwarming moments. This month’s film is Ella Enchanted, a fantasy film in which a young woman cursed with the gift of obedience embarks on a journey to break her spell and find her true voice. $32. The modern Eldorados

7 p.m., doors; 8 p.m., show; Friday, August 16. Vinyl Music Hall, 2 S. Palafox St. The Modern Eldorados formed in 1994 as a vehicle for the original brand of classic country music by singer/songwriter Gretsch Lyles and his songwriting partner Chris Reid. Lyles grew up in a family of musicians and was heavily influenced by his grandparents’ generation of country greats. Raised in rural Baldwin County, Alabama, he began singing and playing guitar at age six and wrote his first song at 16. From a very young age, he felt called to follow in the footsteps of his heroes Marty Robbins, Hank Williams and Johnny Cash. Styx + Foreigner in concert

Friday, August 16, 7 p.m. The Wharf Amphitheater, 23101 Canal Road, Orange Beach, Alabama. Styx and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Foreigner will perform live. Foreigner is a British-American rock band formed in New York City in 1976 and is one of the world’s best-selling bands of all time, having sold over 80 million records. Styx has had eight songs reach the top 10 of the US Billboard Hot 100, as well as 16 top 40 singles. The band sold over 20 million records for A&M between their 1975 signing and 1984. Incorruptible

7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16-25. Pensacola Little Theater, 400 S. Jefferson St. Incorruptible is a black comedy set in 13th-century France, where monks of the struggling Saint Foy monastery try to lure pilgrims and money. To perform a miracle, they plan to steal a corpse and pass it off as a holy relic. But their plan goes awry, leading to hilarious deceptions, rivalries and moral dilemmas. As they wrestle with the blurred lines between good and evil, the monks must face the consequences of their actions and ponder the true meaning of faith and righteousness. Cafe tables: $30. SATURDAY

Low N Clean – Indoor Car Show

Saturday, Aug. 17. Pensacola Interstate Fairgrounds, 6655 Mobile Highway. The Low N Clean – Indoor Car Show features a limited number of indoor VIP events, an outdoor show, dealers, awards, music, two-step and more.
