Suspect charged with murder in stabbing at Lake Elsinore Walmart – NBC Los Angeles

A parolee accused of stabbing a 65-year-old Walmart employee to death in Lake Elsinore has been charged with first-degree murder. Authorities said the attack appeared to be random.

Lonnie Will Hinton III of Wildomar was arrested Monday after attacking Jessica Morales of Menifee at the Riverside County store.

Hinton was also charged with fraudulent lying under special circumstances, use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony and probation violation.

He is being held without bail and an initial court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.

The stabbing was reported around 7 a.m. Monday, before the store on Central Avenue, just east of the 15 Freeway, opened. The suspect confronted Morales, who allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed her, investigators said.

Hinton left the building while his colleagues called for help. Morales died at the scene of the accident.

Hinton entered the sheriff’s station in Lake Elsinore early Monday afternoon and surrendered.

No further details about the motive are available. It is unclear whether the perpetrator and the victim knew each other.

According to court records, he has previous convictions for robbery, theft and burglary, City News Service reported.
